The Abu Dhabi Farmers’ Services Centre was set up late 2009 as a project to reform the local agriculture sector. Peter has lived and worked in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates for the past four years on this project. One of the ADFSC’s strategic priorities is to ‘promote appropriate farming practices’ and through his current senior management position in the Planning & Development Division, his guidance of the Farm Assurance Unit is helping to make this change with the introduction of GLOBALG.A.P.
Peter has been involved with GLOBALG.A.P. from the beginning firstly through benchmarking of New Zealand GAP in 2001 and since 2007 on the Sector Committee for Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) Standard Version 3 and, more recently, the Crops Technical Committee for IFA Version 4. Peter is currently Vice Chairman of the Responsible Water Management Stakeholder Committee.
