Having studied chemistry at university and subsequently working within pharmaceuticals, Ian Harrison moved into the fresh produce industry marketing packhouse grading equipment for fruit. He joined ASDA Stores Ltd in 2008 as Technical Manager for salads, later moving to International Procurement and Logistics (IPL) as Senior Technologist.
IPL is fully owned by ASDA, operating as a model to simplify supply chains and use global leverage for the wider Wal-Mart business. IPL has responsibility for procurement, distribution and retailing of all ASDA fresh produce, taking ownership of the complete supply chain from farm to end customer. Following 3 years in various roles, Ian Harrison became Technical Director for Produce overseeing the technical and quality teams in IPL sites.
